My approach to writing and editing is to clearly communicate facts and ideas tailored to a specific audience. I am an expert at meeting deadlines through my experience writing for newspapers for two decades and PolitiFact for seven years. My articles have appeared in several major newspapers including the Miami Herald, the Tampa Bay Times, the Austin American-Statesman, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the Sun Sentinel and the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
In 2010, I helped launch PolitiFact Florida, a nonpartisan fact-checking website. I fact-checked Democratic and Republican candidates during the 2016 election and also fact-checked members of the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, state legislators and local politicians in South Florida. And for fun, once I fact-checked a claim by Ricky Martin’s character on the TV show Glee.
I have experience researching complicated topics including health care, immigration laws, education policy, foreign policy and legal issues.
When I’m not writing, I am perfecting my backhand on the tennis courts of Broward County. I live in Fort Lauderdale with my two daughters, Lyla and Lacey, who ask factually-based questions of their own such as “how does Santa know we are Jewish — did you text him?”
I am available for news reporting, editing and research as well as writing corporate materials.
